How to get here

There are three major airports serving the Washington, DC area:  Dulles International, Ronald Reagan Washington National and Baltimore-Washington Thurgood Marshall International.  Dulles (IAD) is the closest to the Seminar site (about 15 miles away), followed by National (DCA, 19 miles) and BWI (48 miles).  There are taxis, shuttles and public transportation options from each airport.  For more information, click on the name of the individual airport.

There is an excellent public transportation system in the DC area.  The Metro (subway) goes from downtown Washington to Vienna, but the two stops in Vienna are each about three miles from the Seminar site.  Taxis are available at Metro stations.

SuperShuttle offers shared van service to and from Dulles and National Airports.  Click here to get a fare quote and make a reservation (advance reservations are required).

Amtrak serves Washington, DC and one could easily take Metro from Union Station in downtown DC to Vienna and then take a cab to the Seminar site or your hotel.

Choirs traveling by air will likely need to charter a bus for transportation in the Washington area.  There are a number of charter bus companies in the National Capital Region, but these two have been used by local organizations with success:  Martz Charter Bus and New World Tours

The National Capital area has the second worst traffic congestion in the U.S. (after Los Angeles).  Morning and evening rush "hours" last four hours each, and traffic can be maddeningly inconsistent from hour to hour and day to day.  Keep this in mind when selecting a hotel in terms of its distance from the Seminar site.
